Meet Our Board
Marcy Jackson
President
Marcy Jackson is the daughter of Joe and Vera Zilber and president of the Zilber Family Foundation board of directors. She is also a member of the board, trustee, and teacher with the Art of Living Foundation. The Art of Living and its sister organization, the International Association of Human Values, are nongovernmental organizations dedicated to the application of human values in the political, economic, industrial, and social spheres. Working with young people, veterans, trauma survivors, and others, Art of Living’s self-development programs teach breathing techniques that reduce stress, anxiety, insomnia, and depression. Additionally, Marcy is a writer and has worked as a speech therapist and special needs teacher.
Mark Madigan
Vice President & Secretary
Mark Madigan is secretary of the Zilber Family Foundation board of directors and assistant general counsel for Zilber Ltd. He has been an employee of Zilber Ltd. since 1984. Mark received both his bachelor’s degree and law degree from Marquette University. He currently serves as the board chair for the Sisters of Divine Savior Sponsorship Corporation Board, and formerly served as a board member and chair of St. Anne’s Home for the Elderly, Inc. Mark has also served on various Marquette University alumni boards, including as president of the Marquette University Alumni Association. Mark and his wife Mary have two adult daughters and reside in Milwaukee’s Third Ward.
Shane Jackson
Treasurer
Shane Jackson is the grandson of Joe and Vera Zilber and Treasurer of the Zilber Family Foundation Board of Directors. Shane is a gifted entrepreneur by nature and published an alternative magazine in his youth, started and operated multiple businesses, and is now actively engaged in real estate development and construction. Shane specializes in green development, environmentally sensitive and sustainable land use, and construction practices. He has worked on several award-winning Platinum and Gold LEED certified properties, including the first LEED Gold certified home in Hawaii. Shane is also a trustee of Le Jardin Academy, an International Baccalaureate school that offers pre-kindergarten, elementary, and high school education.
Shar Borg
Board Member
Shar Borg is a board member of the Zilber Family Foundation. She is the founding principal agent at Compass Realty, and has been actively involved in real estate as an investor, an agent, and developer for the past 20 years. Along with her family, Shar has called the Sherman Park neighborhood in Milwaukee home for 25 years and spends much of her time building a thriving community.
Melissa S. A. Jackson
Board Member
Melissa S. A. Jackson is the granddaughter of Joe and Vera Zilber and a board member of the Zilber Family Foundation. She is on the board of Ho`ola Na Pua, an organization committed to ending sex trafficking, and at Castle Medical Center, where she helped establish a best-in-class birthing center. She is also a founding member of Hawaii’s Funder Hui, a partner to organizations, events. and collaborations that elevate the unique role philanthropy plays in social change. Melissa has a master’s degree in counseling psychology, is the mother of four children and an active school parent. She is involved in many volunteer activities, including direct service work with houseless and disadvantaged children, youth, and families.
Juli Kaufmann
Board Member
Juli Kaufmann is a board member of the Zilber Family Foundation. She is a social entrepreneur and president of Fix Development, an award-winning Milwaukee-based commercial real estate company that catalyzes local economic opportunity and wealth creation, even in the city’s most disinvested neighborhoods. You might find her on her bike or on the trail when she’s not volunteering with other local nonprofit organizations.
Paul Tilleman
Board Member
Paul Tilleman is a board member of the Zilber Family Foundation. He is a retired partner in the Quarles & Brady LLP law firm where he practiced as a member of the firm’s Estate, Trust & Wealth Preservation Practice Group for 44 years. Paul received both his bachelor’s degree and law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is an active trustee with a number of private foundations and trusts, including the Ruth Arts Foundation, Ralph Evinrude Foundation, the Bert L. and Patricia S. Steigleder Charitable Trust, the Stackner Family Foundation, and the Herman W. Ladish Foundation. Paul has served as a high school girls and boys pole vault coach since 2002. Paul and his wife Sally have two adult children and two grandchildren.
Marilyn Zilber
Board Member
Marilyn Zilber is the daughter of Joe and Vera Zilber and a board member of the Zilber Family Foundation. A resident of Honolulu, Marilyn lived with and cared for her father, Joseph J. Zilber, until his passing in 2010. She participated in several signature efforts supported by the Foundation, including the construction of the Zilber Hospice in Wisconsin and the renovation of the Vera Zilber Birth Center in Hawaii. Marilyn’s current involvements include support for homeless individuals and families, with a special interest in helping them gain access to food, shelter, clothing, counseling, and other care.
